The tour will take you along the Pan-American heading towards the town of Alajuela and pass by the way the Agriculture Monument, Juan Santamaria statue and the famous Mangos’ Park. During the ascent to the volcano, we stop at the coffee fields for an explanation, then we will pass through fern farm, strawberry plantations and flowers farms. A delicious breakfast will be served in a nice restaurant of the area.

On the top of the volcano we will spend enough time to observe the principal crater with its sulphur fumaroles.

As we continue towards the Caribbean area, we will stop to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a Nature Park where we will walk on the truly spectacular trails that will lead us to Magia Blanca Falls (the largest and the most spectacular of the falls in the area). At the Park you will also witness the largest enclosed butterfly observatory in Costa Rica and a amazing hummingbird gallery with a beautiful collection of tropical jewels. A buffet lunch will be ready for us after the tour.

Once we arrive at Puerto Viejo, we will be ready to enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Sarapiquí River, just sit back and observe the wildlife that is around you. The monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles, and the variety of birds will allow you to relax and concentrate on the scenery. During the boat ride our guide will also explain to us about life style of the friendly people that live at the river margins. Before returning to San Jose we will drive through the unforgettable Rain Forest of Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the most important rainforest Reserves for Costa Rica.

Calypso's Catamaran Cruise

Whether you are 2 or 92 no visit to Costa Rica is complete without a trip on Calypso's world famous Island Cruise. The day begins at your hotel where you will be greeted by a bilingual guide, seated on an air-conditioned bus and served a continental breakfast. The bus ride takes you from 5000 ft. to sea level, to the pacific port of Puntarenas. This is an excellent opportunity to view the coffee and sugar plantations; volcanic mountains and the unique Brahman cattle that form an ever-changing panorama.

Upon arrival in Puntarenas you will board Calypso's super catamaran Manta Raya. She is actually designed by Calypso Passengers over the last 20 years. Manta Raya features an underwater viewing window, fresh water showers and full bar. The spacious air-conditioned main salon combines with an expansive deck area which includes 2 Jacuzzi pools, offering a level of cruising luxury and comfort in 100% Calypso style.

Once underway the Manta Raya will cruise past the lush mangroves, canneries and stilt houses of Puntarenas. Calypso's Punta Coral Private Reserve

The day begins with an early departure from San José and a scenic ride to the Pacific port city of Puntarenas. Punta Coral, accessible only by boat, is the eastern-most tip of the Peninsula of Nicoya.

Located in front of the National Park Islands of Negritos, this privately owned point of dry tropical forest has a quiet beach and a valley filled with flowering plants on one side and interesting rock formations and numerous caves on the other.

Spend the late morning on the easy to walk nature trails. The many varieties of trees and interesting plants are labeled and the ocean views are spectacular.

There are numerous producing fruit trees on the property which provide food for the wild animals native to the area. Troops of black-faced howler monkeys, yellow napped Amazon parrots, a variety of humming birds and butterflies call this special place "Home".

After a superb meal served with complimentary chilled white wine, explore more nature by sea kayak, take a refreshing swim in the calm bay or simply relax in a hammock.

San José City Tour (Afternoon)

Duration: 4 hours

The tour starts taking you through the East of the city of San José, passing the Democracy Park, National Museum, Federal Courts, Los Yoses neighborhood, San Pedro Mall Center and Rodrigo Facio University city of Costa Rica.

We will continue drive down through Barrio Dent, Calderón Guardia Museum, Train Station and the National Park. We will stop at the National Monument in the National Park. You will see very close the Congress Building, National Library and one of the principal buildings “Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones”.

We will continue through the Morazan Park, Metallic Building School, Insurance Institute, España Park, The Yellow House and through SENAC or old factory of alcoholic beverages. Next close the Central Park of San José, Melico Salazar Museum and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

We will stop at the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum and Opera House for a tour.

After the tour, we will continue to the West of the city visiting La Sabana Metropolitan Park, Art Museum (old control towel of the principal Airport of San Jose) Nunciatura Apostolic, Mr. Oscar Arias residence, who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1987, Los Yoses and Rohormoser neighborhoods.

We will continue to Plaza Esmeralda where you can taste a delicious cup of coffee and buy some souvenirs or cigars.

Note: Opera House closed on Sundays. The Gold Museum closed on Mondays instead we will visit Children Museum or Natural Science Museum (La Salle)

The different buildings in this unique theme park, highlight the various architectural trends found in Costa Rica between 1880 and 1930. The main objective of Pueblo Antiguo is to revive Costa Rican traditions in a similar context. The combination of live actors, live music and folkloric dances present a vibrant living experience allusive to the past.

Reventazon Day tour and Reventazon PM

This section of the mighty Reventazon River is some of the fastest and best 10 miles of Class III rapids you will ever paddle! If you are a first-time or experienced peddler looking for the excitement of big waves, hydraulics, and stunning scenery, then this trip is for you.

The drive from San Jose takes you through the impressive Braulio Carrillo National Park, past rainforest and waterfalls across the Continental Divide to the Caribbean side of the country. At our Operations Center you will have breakfast, there are bathrooms, changing rooms and an area to buy last minute needs.

After our safety orientation, the first rapid of the day will set the pace for more to come. As your raft rounds each new bend in this dam-controlled river, you will be greeted with yet another breathtaking view of the Reventazon Valley.

Look for toucans, kingfishers, herons, tanagers, iguanas and bright green "Jesus Christ" lizards. After a fun and exhilarating day of big waves, hydraulics and stunning scenery, you will finish your trip with a stop at our Operations Center for a delicious hot lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store before the return drive to San José. This one-day adventure is unforgettable!

White Water Rafting-One Day Rafting Tour

After an early morning pickup from your San José hotel, you will drive by private, comfortable bus to our Operations Center for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. Once at the river, at our private put-in, you will raft 16 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica's most impressive primary rainforests.

On the river you will raft by Ríos Tropicales Lodge, where guests stay on two and three-day trips. Intimate and charming, the lodge blends naturally into the forest on our 1000 acre private reserve, with waterfalls and pools.

After an adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more, after we finish, a short drive to Ríos Tropicales Operations Center for a hearty and delicious lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store.

Sarapiqui River (Class III)

This stunning rainforest river is an excellent choice for a first rafting trip in Costa Rica. The lush vegetation and thick tree canopy along the narrow, winding river are home to toucans, cormorants, hummingbirds, howler monkeys, kingfishers and much more. After being picked up in the early morning from your hotel in San José, you will drive by private, comfortable, air-conditioned bus to a local restaurant for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast.

On the way to the river, you'll pass by majestic La Paz waterfall and rolling, verdant fields of coffee, papayas and ferns. Upon arrival to Río Sarapiquí, your friendly and professional guides will outfit you with lifejackets, helmets and paddles and give you a safety orientation for the river. Rafting down the Sarapiquí, you can expect beautiful, clear water flowing down from Poas Volcano. You'll have fun going through exciting rapids interspersed with tranquil pools, and taking in the stunning tropical forest scenery.

During the trip, you'll stop to enjoy a picnic lunch and swimming. After finishing rafting, you'll enjoy the relaxing beauty of the Selva Verde restaurant and lodge where you can shower and change clothes. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK

• 6:10 am Depart from San José accompanied by your bilingual naturalist guide.

• 6:30 am Driving first past coffee plantations, we will head into the mountains of BRAULIO CARRILLO NATIONAL PARK where steep slopes are covered with thick cloud forest and beautiful waterfalls can be seen from the road. That magnificent 46,000 hectare park is one of Costa Rica´s largest, home to three kinds of monkeys, tapirs, 557 bird species and more than 4.000 different species of plants. Your tour guide will identify some of that flora and fauna.

• 7:30 am Just after BRAULIO CARRILLO NATIONAL PARK, we stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, fresh fruit, coffee, eggs and the popular "Gallo Pinto".

• 8:00 am Following breakfast, we continue to a BANANA PLANTATION, where we visit a BANANA PACKING PLANT. Your guide will explain the process of growing and exporting that fruit.

• 10:30 am We later abandon our bus and embark on the most exciting part of this tour: The boat trip into the jungle on the CARIBBEAN CANALS to the world famous TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK.

• 12:00 pm We will enjoy a hearty typical lunch to please the hungriest of appetites. • 1:00 pm After lunch we will take a walk through the rainforest to learn about how nature works and to get a real feel of our tropical humid rainforest, plus a boat tour through TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK. Covering 29000 hectares, TORTUGUERO is one of the most important nesting sites for Chelonia midas, the green sea turtle, whereas its forests and waterways are home for such endangered mammals such as sloths, monkeys, agoutis, coatimundis and manatees. There are also abundant birds, such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and anhingas, as well as crocodiles, turtles and countless colorful) butterflies, including the beautiful blue morpho. The boat trip offers a chance to see many of these rare animals up close.

• 3:30 pm Returning to the bus, we head back to San José, making a rest stop along the way and arriving around 6:30.

WHAT TO BRING: Hat, light clothes and covered shoes. Rain gear: Mosquito repellent, for the walk only. Do not forget your camera and film.

Poás Volcano National Park/Grecia/ Sarchí (One day)

Thereafter, we will walk to the beautiful Botos lagoon where you can see the diverse flora and fauna of the cloud forest. At this time we will be ready to take a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants at the area.

The tour continues with a visit to Grecia, a nice town that is considered one of the cleanest in Latin America and where we can find the only metallic church in Central America, a national monument that fill their natives with pride. We will also visit the Central Market of Grecia lifestyle of Costa Rican people.

The tour continues by visiting Sarchi, which is the center of Costa Rican handcraft with an abundance of craftsmen that work in fine woods. You will have time to see the artist works in the fabric of the famous oxcarts and additionally you can choose your own souvenir to take back home.

After our visit to the Basilica of los Angeles we will continue to Lankaster Gardens, investigation center of the University of Costa Rica which protects more than 800 species of orchids and bromeliads, in addition of other varieties of plants.

The tour continues with a ride through the unique beauty of the Orosi Valley. We will visit one of the few colonial churches and is also where we will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch. On the way back to San Jose we will visit the rustic Casa del Soñador, well know for the rustic Costa Rican art.

After our visit to the Basílica de los Angeles we will continue to Lancaster Gardens, the center of investigation of the University of Costa Rica that protects more than 800 species of orchids and bromeliads in addition to various other plants.

Thereafter we will continue to the Orosi Valley with its extraordinary beauty. Here it is possible to visit one of the few colonial temples that are still in use at today’s date and the Orosi Valley is also where we will make our stop to enjoy a delicious lunch. On the way back we will have the possibility to observe the rustic Casa del Soñador, well know for the rustic Costa Rican art.

Canopy Tour (One day)

This is definitely an adventure you don’t want to miss. We will leave the city and head up to the mountains surrounding the Central Valley offering a scenery of spectacular vegetation, coffee fields, ornamental plants and picturesque villages typical for Costa Rica. As we ascend you will experience the climate changes, common of our country.

The Canopy Tour is once in a lifetime experience, consisting of sliding in a cable between platforms flying through the canopy.

The Canopy of San Lorenzo is located in the middle of a tropical forest reserve on a beautiful site where we will encounter orchids, bromeliads and other flowers.

The length of the cable is 8200 feet between 19 platforms. The Canopy of San Lorenzo has one of the longest cables in the country.

During the tour, the guide will explain to the participants the most important things about the forest that we are visiting.

We begin our trip with a delicious breakfast on the way to the Pacific coast. In approximately two hours, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the few places showing the transition between rain forest and the dry tropical forest. The Best of the Pacific

From San José we will head towards the Pacific Coast through the old Spanish route of 1606.

Once we reach our destination, we will start the jungle boat tour that goes along the Tarcoles River. Our guides will introduce you to the world of crocodiles and different species of birds.

Thereafter we will arrive at one of the most beautiful protected areas, the Punta Leona Beach Resort, an exotic paradise surrounded by 750 acres of lush tropical rainforest, pristine white sand beaches and the deep blue waters of the Pacific.

The day is at leisure and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the pleasant weather as well as activities such as water sports, swimming in the crystal clear water of the sea or just relaxing by the pool. At lunch time a delicious meal will be served at one of the nearby restaurants.

As an optional activity in the afternoon we also offer a guided tour through the jungle. The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and is a good opportunity to see animals such as amphibians, reptiles, and scorpions.

The sunset at Punta Leona is an extraordinary experience and after enjoying this spectacular natural view we start our journeys back San Jose.

What to bring:

• For the river: Hat, sunblock, insect repellent, binoculars and camera.
• For the resort: Shorts or skirts, sandals, swimsuit and towel.
