Air, land, or sea transportation can be arranged. Private or commercial aircraft from San José make the flight to Carrillo Beach Airstrip in just 30 minutes. A 5 hour drive winds its way out of the Central Valley and through the province of Guanacaste. The 100 foot "Costa Sol" Tropical Cruise is also available for charters from the port city of Puntarenas to Guanamar.
World Class Sportfishing
Nowhere else in the world will you have a better change of tangling with Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, sailfish, giant tuna, record-size dorado, snapper, roosterfish and other game fish.
It is not unusual to raise 25 or more sailfish in a single day, and local boats every year report "Super Grand Slams" -all three species of marlin and one or more sailfish taken on the same day.
The luxurious Guanamar Resort is nestled along the shore of a quiet bay, protected from the heavy winds that plague Costa Rica's more northerly fishing areas from December through May.
Because of Guanamar's protected location, anglers catch fish year round with seldom more than a 30-45 minute run before the action starts.
Guanamar's fast, comfortable sportfishing boats are equipped with state-of-the-art electronics and tournament quality tackle. Captain and crews are expert in conventional and fly fishing techniques. We encourage anglers to release their catch.
